What I’m working on – December 2025

I’m closing out my year and working on Christmas presents.

Where you can see my work

The national, pop-up, online art exhibition called “FALL OF FREEDOM: Freedom of Expression” from the Women’s Caucus for Art is still up! You can see my piece “I pledge allegiance to me” in Gallery Two. There’s over 200 pieces of art in this show from my fellow Caucus members and I am honored to be among them. Open calls I’m working on

I’m also working on pieces for two other art calls. The Carnegie Visual Arts Center has their annual Embracing Art call out. I was in this show in 2024 so I’m excited to submit again! I’m planning on submitting Deconstructed Seascape and/or maybe some of the weavings I’ve been doing. Sadly, video projects aren’t included in this call or I’d be submitting the Into the Unknown project.

I’m also working on a weaving for the ALWCA call for the show “From Source to Sea: Alabama Streams of She.” (The smaller blue weavings on the pink cutting board are my beginnings of this piece.) I may ask if I can submit the video for Into the Unknown.

Paper things

For the past few years I’ve made family members 5×7″ mixed media art calendars out of Anika at The Handcrafted Story‘s beautiful PDF calendars. So I’m in the process of working on those! I print them out on watercolor paper so I can do watercolor and collage.

Crochet things

I’m still working on the blue sweater I posted about last month. The one I’m playing yarn chicken with and it turns out it has SIDE PANELS!! So I’ll definitely be looking either for some similar yarn or a contrasting color to make it pop. I got the front sections rejoined at the neck. I didn’t get as far as I thought I would Thanksgiving week because I started a whole new sweater to give as a Christmas gift. Basically anytime I’m sitting I’m working on something for Christmas.

Other things in process

I’m writing my big year end blog post. This has become a yearly tradition for me and I love setting goals and looking back through my past year’s accomplishments. I’ve been calling them yearly recaps for a few years now and before that they stretch ALL THE WAY back to 2016 (when I started this blog) in the goals tag. I’m trying to get those done before the end of this year but just know, if there’s radio silence from me I’m frantically trying to get Christmas presents finished! I hope your holidays are life affirming and peace filled.
