These mixed media works are my examination of church iconography with a modern aesthetic. Icons have been used for centuries as a way of contemplating the holy while using our minds and spirits and also our bodies. Icons allow us to pray with our eyes open and stay physically engaged during the act of prayer. The question for me was: What might a mixed-media icon look like?
