Weekly Recap: August 14-20, 2017

Monday, August 14

Took a recovery day after the workshop.

Tuesday, August 15

Thinking about the things I learned in the workshop I attended. Trying to line up what I learned with how I work.

Wednesday, August 16

One of the things I learned from the workshop is I often work analogous color palettes. It is pleasing to me and visually interesting.

Thursday, August 17

There’s a class available at Get Messy Art Journal right now that teaches how to use gel mediums to transfer images to your work. I’m loving exploring what I can do with this technique. If it sounds like something you’d be interested in checking out, the link above will take you to the class and I will get a small referral fee at no additional cost to you. The class is only $20! What are you waiting for!

Friday, August 18

Here’s a finished transfer I nabbed from  Hi Fructose magazine by an artist named Okuda.

Saturday, August 19

Get Messy is a fantastic community. We have a group called Artist Angels who send out care packages. I am the happy recipient of a batch this week. Lovely words from women in my community and lovey things to play with. So fun!

Sunday, August 20

Still playing with those transfers! On the left, is a second transfer on top of a previously botched transfer. The second one actually managed to highlight the best part of the first one.

On the right, is a transfer of purple sky and mountains over a collage. Tanyalee Kahler and I were talking about how we like some of the really distressed/grungy looks you can get with this technique.
