Here’s an update of all of the yarn, paper, and other projects I’m working on. Also, a link to an online exhibit my work is in!
What I’m working on – November 2025
I’ve been thinking about how to share what I’ve been working on since I’ve left social media and then it occurred to me that I, in fact, have a blog that I can post on anytime I like. So Imma try out putting out a post once a month of what I’ve been working on.
Where you can see my work
Currently I am a part of the Women’s Caucus for Art national, pop-up, online art exhibition called “FALL OF FREEDOM: Freedom of Expression.” The exhibit runs from November 1-30, 2025. A virtual Artist Reception and Gallery Tour is scheduled for Saturday, November 22 at 4 pm ET. My piece “I pledge allegiance to me” is my contribution. The show has some incredible works in it and I highly recommend you check it out!
Crochet Things
So far this month I’ve finished a shawl and a hat.
Leaning into making whimsical things on purpose, I made this mushroom hat. You can get the pattern here. The yarn was Knit Picks Brava I had on hand. My partner has claimed the hat and already worn it to work and lunch where he got accosted over it. Basically the ladies can’t keep their hands off that hat!

The shawl is the Crochet Your Own Adventure Shawl. I used Knit Picks fingering weight Chroma yarn in the color Groovy, which is discontinued. This pattern is so fun! You read a very short yarn-related adventure and make choices that correspond to pattern sections. I used some yarn that had been hanging around my stash for a while and the finished piece is very much one of a kind.
I’ve started another sweater which I knew going into I was going to play Yarn Chicken. I swear for someone who hates Yarn Chicken as much as I do, I sure play it A LOT. Anyway, If I get to the halfway point on the first skein of yarn, I’ll know I’m going to make it. Say a prayer to the yarn gods for me.
Paper things
I’m currently working on a paper weaving to submit to an upcoming show about water ways in Alabama. It’s an off shoot of the paper weaving I started last month.

To meet the submission criteria, I’m having to do some size modifications. So there are three smaller weavings that I’m going to attach together and of course there will be tassels for it! Here are the two parts that are finished:
There are some parts of what I’m doing that aren’t super clear yet but I’m trusting the process that they will become more clear as I go.
Other things in process
I’m working on setting up my year end journaling packet that is a conglomeration of several things I’ve found online to unpack the work I’ve done in the past year and prep for the next year. I’ve downloaded the new Affinity program from Canva and am poking at it to see if I can turn something out before I actually need it.
If this is something you like, Susannah Conway has a deep dive end of the year packet called “Unravel Your Year” you can sign up for here, for free! I am in the process of making my own but Susannah’s is excellent! I’m sure there are others out there as well. Let me know if you use one that you love.
I usually work through my packet while we are on vacation during Thanksgiving but I think this year, I’m going to wait until closer to the end of the year. Try it a new way.
Speaking of Thanksgiving vacation, I’m also packing up my “Into the Unknown” project to take to work on. I’ll be videoing it before, during, and after it’s dip into the ocean.
I also have a little family project I started on vacation last year. We do what we call “thankfuls” every year and in previous years, we’ve written those thoughts down on strips of paper and then read them after Thanksgiving lunch. Last year, instead of cutting strips I had a small notebook that we wrote in. So I’m prepping this year’s notebook for our trip.
I’ve also been working in some zines from some online friends. Mel Mitchell-Jackson hosts a Discord group and we’ve been trading small mailings and working in them for more than a month now. I don’t have any pics of these because I forgot to take any from the last zine I mailed off. This is a fun way to subvert social media and make for fun. I am all the way here for it! I’ll be taking the zine I have currently with me on vacation so I can work in it.
What about you? What are you working on this month? I’d love to hear about it! Email me or start a conversation by leaving a comment on this post! If you’d like to keep up with what I’m working on, I’d love to have you as a newsletter subscriber. I include blog posts from here, cool things I find online, and pictures of my dogs.
