Get Messy Art Journal: Season of Color Kickoff

Season 15 in the Get Messy Art Journal Community* is the Season of Color. Get Messy Art Journal is an art journaling program that is a school, art playground, and family. We are a group of like-minded art journalers who have come together in this art form to learn, share, practice our skills, and push past our creative limits with hopes to inspire. Our community values consistent creating, encouragement and support, and trying new things. We would love to have you join us as a member of Get Messy Art Journal.
The Get Messy Creative Team are kicking off the new Season of Color with a blog hop! So I’m excited to say that today I am:
Purple
This is my favorite time of year for purple because I have a hydrangea bush right outside my studio window.
I love the variety of blues and purples that come out on this shrub in June and July. It just makes my summer brighter and makes me feel especially Southern.
So what did I make for my Purple Get Messy Page, you ask?
Grape Popsicles!
Just Kidding!
My hydrangeas that are just starting to bloom was my inspiration for my purple art journal page.
I started with this piece of hydrangea paper I’ve been saving for approximately one hundred years and I layered silver, lavender and ocean teal paint on my pages.
A few weeks ago when I was spray painting ALL THE THINGS, I pulled some packing tape prints off of my stencils. This gray stencil with the circles on the right of this page are a result of that session.
I layered up my hydrangeas and added some shading and dark purple paint for my final page.
Now that you’ve visited my page, jump over to Jules Tea‘s blog and see what color she’s getting messy with today!! We’d love for you to join us for the Season of Color or for a whole year! Sign up today!

June 1, 2017My mum used to have loads of different hydrangea shrubs of which she used to give me cuttings. These are now my most treasured garden flowers. What a great way of using that special paper. 🤗

June 1, 2017Packing tape transfer… It sounds like an interesting concept but what does it have to do with a stencil and how is it done?
