Get Messy Art Journal: Season of Art 101

This past week finished up Season 13 in the Get Messy Art Journal Community*. Get Messy Art Journal is an art journaling program that is a school, art playground and family. We are a group of like minded art journalers who have come together in this art form to learn, share, practice our skills, and push past our creative limits with hopes to inspire. Our community values consistent creating, encouragement and support, and trying new things. We would love to have you join us as a member of Get Messy Art Journal.

Season 13 was a back-to-basics series called Art 101. We did lots of exploring in mediums and techniques. I made a tag journal made up of 8.5 x 4.25 inch manila and homemade tags. I made 11 tags and since I used a discontinued Heidi Swapp 3-ring book, I was able to add them along as I went.

Here’s my self-portrait.

I’m addicted to Cuties in the winter. Journaling and snacking. ALL THE GOOD THINGS.

Playing with texture.

This was a song at church and it gave me a lot of peace that day.

Thinking about being a good citizen.

Mark making practice.

Combination of a bunch of Get Messy tutorials.

Thinking about layers.

Had so much fun at our Get Messy Digi Make-a-thon!

Here’s the cover of my book. When I’m making a journal like this, I often work in it a while before I attempt to finish the cover. What’s in it helps inform how I want the cover to look.

Thanks for touring my Season of Art 101 journal! The new season of Get Messy starts April 1st.
