Ahhh, The Cure. I have a lot of feels about this band. Those formative years are a thing and The Cure figures prominently in a bunch of those memories. I pulled the color scheme for these pages directly from the Disintegration cover. I’m not gonna be over this one for a while. I’m listening to the album much too loudly as I type this.

I’ve had some, umm, logistical issues, yeah, that’s it, with this journal. (I can’t fold straight and have redone the guts of this accordion-fold book four times.) I finally hit upon a solution this morning so once the glue dried, I got to work on it since our deadline for swapping our books is the end of August. I know what I’m going to be doing the next few days.

The journal I’m making to trade with Katie is coming along. I made one and swapped it for a beautiful lotus stamp so this is actually the second accordion book I’ve made for this project and the fourth time I’ve made the guts of it (see yesterday’s photo above).
This one I gave ties! That I hand-dyed at a plant-based dye workshop! I am such a nerd.
Katie and I are trying to plot out how to achieve the best results with her fantastic watercolor work and my collage. Thinking about how to accommodate our individual skillz is a challenge. We finally decided today that we would each work on parts of the books we made, swap, work on them, and then swap again to finish up. She’s going to end up with this one and I’m going to end up with the one she’s made. Hopefully, the end results will be lots of layered yumminess. I’m excited to see where this is going and it’s given us tons of opportunities to chat! Win-Win!

So much serendipity on this page today. The concert spread was the next set of pages in my book. The tickets were close at hand because I recently purged our CD collection. I’m so thrilled by it all.

I’m making two different journals here for two different swaps. The left side is my dry desk area where I’m trimming paper to be the guts of the books. The right side is the wet side where I paint. I’m making covers over there. Whole lotta mess going on today! Fun stuff.
