What I’m working on – June 2026

This month already has me tired. This past weekend my oldest kiddo graduated from college. Helping get her moved and resettled at home for a few weeks and then helping her move to her new state and new job is what I’ll be doing the bulk of this month. She’s doing a lot of the heavy lifting to get ready for the move but she and I will be sifting through her room here at home and packing and donating what she isn’t taking with her. It’s a lot. For everyone at our house. Good but still a lot.

So the rest of this post will feel a little light because I’ll be working on that most of the month. I do have a some good blog posts partially written for this month already and I’m excited to share those things with you in the coming weeks!

Where you can see my work

Six of Cups (Cherishing memories of Big Spring Park) opened in From Source to Sea: Alabama Streams of She at The Library Art Gallery at Birmingham Botanical Gardens this past weekend. The show runs until June 25, 2026.

The Star (Light my Way) is in the show Borderless. It will be on display at Lowe Mill in the ALWCA 2nd Floor Gallery South. The show runs from June 3 to August 29, 2026 with a closing reception on August 29th from 5-7pm.

Open calls I’m working on

I’ve identified a few calls that I’ll be applying to over the next few weeks. They are all shows that I have work to fit the criteria so I’ll just be filling out paperwork and submitting. I found all of them on Call for Entry so wish me luck that something comes of these entries.

I was planning to do a rolling entry with this process and just apply at the last minute as they came due but I managed to miss one already with being out of town for graduation. So now I’m going to pivot and spend a day just applying to all of them at once.

Paper things

I’ve been working on putting some of the journals I’ve made recently into my Etsy store. So if you’d like to purchase one of my handmade journals, go check those out!! Some of these are already listed and I’m about to list the small horizontal one in the lower right of this picture this week!!

Crochet things

I started gathering materials for my next In Search of Alchemy project. I dyed the canvas with avocado pits and it’s just so wild to me still that avocado pits dye things pink! Happy to have this group set aside so I can start working on the crochet part of this project!

I’m also still working on the Magpie shawl and I started a housewarming blanket for the moving kiddo.
