Yellow Leather Journal Flip Through

A walkthrough of my yellow leather journal with a video flip through. I’m proud of this one, guys, because you can see a lot of growth here.

When I started this journal, my intent was to try to be a bit more spare in my work. Trim it down. Maybe not minimalist but not my usual maximalist style. How long do you think that lasted? Yeah, the yellow leather art journal didn’t stay minimalist for long.

I made this journal on September 27, 2021. I started working in it for real in October 2021, and finished it in August 2023. It’s made out of a piece of yellow leather. And I used mixed media paper for the three signatures that I long stitched to the piece of leather. Here’s the video I made of that process. Please listen too because I do some big griping about how hard it is to sew leather. 😂

Line Work

I love all my journals but this one holds a special place in my heart because I tried some new stuff in this book. I branched out in my line work, handwriting, and drawing. Also? I went for it in a way that I didn’t fully realize while I was making in the book.

I’ve got so much pencil work and background writing in this book. So many areas of where I wrote and wrote and wrote. Then I used a big Sumo Grip eraser to reduce it down. I also used this book to practice with a lot of different pen options.

You can see a lot of this in this video:
