But for right now…

but for right now
“But for right now…” 12×16″ (Acrylic paint  & pages from an Indonesian Bible)
This piece is out of my processing of a long-time family friend’s illness and death. I visited her in the hospital over Christmas and was dismayed to find her so ill and in so much pain. She passed away on January 8, 2016. I have know her my whole life as Aunt Judy. In thinking about my memories of her, I kept remembering her smile, her red hair, us cooking in her kitchen — her treating me as an Aunt would.
The pages in the background are from an Indonesian Bible and are from 1 Corinthians. I was meditating on the Message version of the Love Chapter and decided to use a portion of that as my title:  But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.” – 1 Corinthians 13:13. The numbers 13:13 are stenciled on it on the left middle of the canvas.
