What I’m working on – July 2026

My instinct is to say “How is it July already!??” But this post is landing the last day of June so technically, it’s not July. Yet.

In the interest of starting July well, I’m doing this “what I’m working on” post to get me thinking on what I am going to work on in July. And July is good because I’ll be doing Art Retreat Week July 20-24! I adore Art Retreat week and this will be my fourth year! (Here’s recaps for 2023, 2024, and 2025 if you wanna check those out.) I’m excited to see what I cook up for this yearly tradition.

Where you can see my work

The Star (Light my Way) is in the show Borderless. It will be on display at Lowe Mill in the ALWCA 2nd Floor Gallery South. The show runs from June 3 to August 29, 2026 with a closing reception on August 29th from 5-7pm.

Open calls I’m working on

I applied to one call in June that I’m hoping to hear back from by the middle of July. I am taking July off from applying to anything and maybe the rest of the year. I’ve punched this ticket pretty hard this year and I’m tired. And also, I want to spend time making work! I’ve had so much life stuff that I’ve not had a chance to be in the studio for weeks. So I’m going to rest here for a while.

Paper Things

Because this month has been mostly out of the studio work, the best paper thing I can show you is the handful of notebooks I’m trying to choose my next bullet journal from. I said on Bluesky that it was a weird task but that I’d had my current bullet journal since November 2025 so auditioning a new one is a bit of a commitment for me! 😂

Crochet Things

I’ve been plugging away at a housewarming gift for the kiddo who just moved. I hope to get that finished this month. Here’s a progress shot:

As I mentioned above, my big thing this month is Art Retreat Week. I’ll be doing some brainstorming to come up with my plan and I’m just so excited! I can’t wait to share what I work on with you!
