Women’s Work explores the theme of women’s traditional roles and how they choose to engage or not engage those roles. The women featured in these pieces and their stories are juxtaposed with crochet made by my maternal grandmother and my great grandmother, as well as new pieces I’ve made to further explore the line between traditional handicrafts and art. The process is slow sometimes and I want to rush…snap my fingers…get it done. It’s not that I want it to be over…I’m just impatient to be at the next step in the process. But when that’s how I approach it, I don’t enjoy the individual steps or appreciate the emergence of the thing I’m making. I think maybe the emergence is the thing I should be enjoying the most. ✨ May we all slow down today and appreciate the place the work is in right now. May we marvel with joy the work we’ve been entrusted with. 💖 #papercollageart #papercollage #analogcollage #artcollage #collages #collegeartistoninstagram #mixedmediapainting #visualart #southernwomanartist #artistsofalabama #createeveryday #abstractartpainting #papertreasures #littlescrapsofpaper #collagemaker #creativewomen #lifeofanartist #creators #womensworkcollection
