So close! So close! I’ve only got a handful of rows left and then seaming and edging. Just in time for it to be so hot I can’t wear it! Story of my life!

Thinking ahead to the next season of Get Messy. Looking forward to what will be announced as the new thing. Playing with my new stencils from Stencil Girl Products and dreaming.

I had premade pages for this season’s book. I glued bits of book pages down and hit them with some Liquitex! Ink. These were the last two of those. I wasn’t even pretending to follow any prompts over these past couple of days. Just playing with the leftover materials and my scrap paper bin.

I opened my altered book today to find that Liza has been doodling on my pages. I’m going to try and leave some of her handwriting visible in the finished piece.

In other news, I’ve started a new online course call Level Up. I’m hoping that it can help me figure out a direction to take my art. I’ve been pondering the question for a while now and am not sure what this part of my life should look like. I’ve just completed the first set of lessons and I’m super excited about the next set. I’ll keep you posted.

My mother in law is a prodigious knitter and when she is done with a project she saves the leftover yarn for me. 2-3 times per year I get a bag of these ends. Occasionally, there is enough of one color for me to make something but otherwise I just tuck the bits away. Then when I’m feeling a burst of yarn creativity, I spread them all out on the kitchen table and make color groupings out of them. I try to stick to 100-120g of yarn and wind them on my ball winder. I did this last year and made labels to go with them. I’ve called my line of upcycled yarn Mist-ry cakes. I give them away to my yarnie friends and so it’s become a bit of a yearly event.

Here are the names of the 2016 Mist-ry cakes, left to right, top row: Rose to the Occasion, Peaches n’ Rainbows, Old Glory. Middle row: Tan Queue Very Much, Sunny Days…, Teal Me No Secrets. Bottom row: Pinky Swear, Shhh! We’re Hunting Rabbits, Hold Me Teal Twilight.

I can’t wait to see what my friends do with their yarn!

I love how this collage turned out. I pulled bits from my paper scrap bin and worked this up rather quickly. It makes me thing about how sometimes I’m really methodical with collages and sometimes I throw things together. I’m not sure which is better or more satisfying. Good news! I can do both!

This took a bit of beating my head against the wall. Proving once again, that staying up super late to read a book might be a joy in the moment but the next day the payback, OH THE PAYBACK.
