petal to the metal

“Petal to the Metal” Two 16x40x2″ canvases (Acrylic paint, found paper, tracing paper, wax crayon, pencil, modeling paste & sewing patterns) Commissioned Piece: Not For Sale

This was such a fun piece to work on! The client bought a round wrought iron wall hanging and I took crayon rubbings of the central motif to incorporate in this piece. As I was beginning the collage part, I realized how much the scattered round shapes reminded me of the Glasshouse at the Chihuly Glass Museum.

I wanted this to have a dreamy, English garden feel and I’m so pleased with how it turned out. The client was dazzled too!

I love everything about this piece… the story, the colors… I wish I could reach through the screen and touch it!
